Title: "GIT and stability"

Abstract: Geometric Invariant Theory (GIT) is a useful tool to construct quotients in several problems in geometry. We will introduce the basic notions of GIT, the concept of stability and S-equivalence, and the Hilbert-Mumford criterion. We will provide Hilbert's example of classification of binary forms of degree n to visualize these notions.
