Title: "Stochastic Matrices and Evolutionary Processes"

Abstract: We will consider two large families of examples of stochastic matrices used in the mathematical study of evolutionary population genetics: the Moran and the Wright-Fisher processes. For time-independent process (i.e., when the probability of transition between possible states is time-independent), both processes are fully understood. In this talk, we will define a more general class of matrices and start to build an algebra of evolutionary matrices. The task is far from being complete, but some preliminary results will be announced. The so called "stochastically ordered matrices" will play a fundamental role.
