Multiresolution analysis for surfaces and applications
Miguel Ángel Fortes (University of Granada, Spain)
In this work we present a multiresolution analysis for surfaces which allows to transfer information between different 'resolution levels' by using the associated decomposition and reconstruction algorithms. The initial resolution level is defined by means of an initial triangulation of the domain over which the surface is defined, and higher resolution levels are given by considering finer sub-triangulations of the initial one. We consider both the cases of uniform and non-uniform sub-triangulations. As an application, we show some numerical and graphical examples related to data compression and discontinuities detection.
